R&D Lead Engineer (UI/UX)

Vilnius

Full Time

Role Description

Sensmetry is seeking a talented, motivated & proactive individual for the position of R&D Lead Engineer (UI/UX) to own the user experience and design engineering of Sensmetry products and customer-facing materials. This is a role for an experienced practitioner who finds aesthetics in technical precision and believes that professional engineering tools should be as intuitive as they are powerful. By building the medium through which the most innovative technology is engineered, you will be the primary architect of the visual and functional language of our products, working closely with company leadership. Equally important, the candidate is expected to be hands-on: to prototype, design, and implement the interfaces they envision, and to ship production-quality code alongside the rest of the engineering team. A genuine interest in tools for professional engineers, model-based systems engineering (MBSE/SysML v2), and the complex technical domains our customers work in is important for the candidate to continue deepening knowledge and expanding the skill set in these areas while at Sensmetry.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Design Direction:
    • Propose the design strategy for Sensmetry products and customer-facing materials;
    • Act as the end-user advocate in product engineering, finding a way for the best user experience in product technical decisions;
    • Ensure the implementation of the approved design strategy that addresses user requirements and evolving design-engineering know-how.
  • Design & Implement:
    • Lead the design lifecycle, collaborating with product development teams, solution leads, and end users;
    • Produce prototypes, designs, and interactive demonstrations for user use cases and product concepts;
    • Implement production-quality graphical user interfaces (GUIs) end-to-end for Sensmetry’s products; develop new features, and optimize applications for speed and scalability;
    • UI/UX design and implementation for Sensmetry’s online resources supporting the user journey (incl. website, docs, user accounts, online shop);
    • Translate complex, data-heavy engineering workflows into intuitive, performant interfaces. You will optimize for speed, scalability, and technical accuracy;
    • Data-driven improvement strategies for the UI/UX of Sensmetry’s products & related services/resources.
  • Perform additional tasks within the scope of the position as needed.

Role Requirements

Curiosity and eagerness

  • Proactively follow and apply new relevant UI/UX design & software engineering
    (incl. AI-based) methods and technologies;
  • Eagerness to drive the design process end-to-end in alignment with company leadership;
  • Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing business and technological needs;
  • 'Throw anything at me' attitude (i.e., flexibility to work on a range of topics
    outside the main competence area and learn in the process);
  • Eagerness to contribute to the company's mission (see Manifesto).

Abilities and experience

  • Experience leading design engineering for software products with a portfolio of shipped work;
  • Experience designing, implementing & shipping production-grade user interfaces – from designs you specified and then implemented yourself, or were deeply hands-on in implementing;
  • Experience & fluency with modern web-based and/or native UI/UX engineering technologies (preferably both) in production environments;
  • Ability to explain design choices to different stakeholders: leadership, product development, and engineering teams;
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a highly adaptive and fast-paced engineering environment, with changing design requirements and product priorities;
  • Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
    Professional communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Proactiveness to notice areas for improvement and take leadership to initiate positive changes.

Employment details:

  • Full-time employment with a standard 40-hour work week at Sensmetry’s office in Vilnius, Lithuania;
  • Salary: 30-43 EUR/h gross;
  • Semi-annual employee review process, incl. compensation revision;
  • Individual competence development budget (both time and financial resources).
