Role Description

Sensmetry is seeking a talented, motivated & proactive individual for the position of Application Engineer. This customer-facing technical role combines strong communication skills with modelling and/or software engineering expertise. A key aspect of the role involves looking at Sensmetry products from the user perspective intending to help users maximize the value of Sensmety’s products and identify needed improvements or new features. The role is multi-faceted, requiring the candidate to contribute to a wide range of activities arising in product development and bringing a product to market. These include formulating user requirements, developing demos/prototypes, supporting client projects, performing business analyses, preparing product marketing materials, and similar.

 

Responsibilities​

During work, the candidate is expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Support and enable existing and potential product users

    • Serve as a point of contact to support Sensmetry’s product users;
    • Create and maintain user documentation, guides, walkthroughs, etc.;
    • Create technical demonstrations and proof-of-concepts;
    • Support marketing efforts through content creation.
  • Contribute to product development, especially, focusing on the user perspective and value:

    • Gather and analyze user feedback and feature requests systematically;
    • Extract & translate user needs into clear, actionable product requirements;
    • Analyse product usage patterns to identify areas for product improvement
    • Conduct analysis for product decisions
  • Perform engineering tasks on client and internal projects in areas such as modeling, data analysis, and software engineering.
  • Work through an iterative ‘build, test and learn’ approach.
  • Perform additional tasks within the scope of the position as needed.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills and technical expertise, allowing the candidate to bridge the gap between Sensmetry product users and the product engineering team. While the position is multifaceted, we understand that the candidate might develop deeper expertise in specific areas as they grow with the company.

 

Role Requirements

Curiosity and eagerness

  • To proactively follow and apply new relevant methods and technologies, in areas such as Product development, UI/UX, Marketing, Systems/Software/Data/AI Engineering;
  • Ability to prototype quickly and rapidly to collect feedback;
  • ‘Throw anything at me’ attitude (i.e. flexibility to work on a range of topics outside the main competence area and learn in the process);
  • Eagerness to contribute to the company mission (see Manifesto).

Education and skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Exact Sciences, Software/Electrical/Mechanical/Data/AI Engineering, or equivalent professional experience;
  • Experience with one (or more) of the following programming languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, modern C++;
  • Experience in creating interactive prototypes and wireframing;
  • Familiarity with software development practices (versioning, testing, agile methodologies, CI/CD, etc.);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including ability to explain technical content to diverse audience

 

Advantages (not mandatory)

Expertise in any of the following – engineering science, DevSecOps, robotics, electronics, physics, mathematics, logic, machine learning, and statistics – is considered a valuable asset.

 

Employment details:

  • Full-time employment with a standard 40-hour work week at Sensmetry’s office in Vilnius, Lithuania;
  • Salary: 18 – 30 EUR/h gross;
  • Semi-annual employee review process, incl. compensation revision;
  • Individual competence development budget (both time and financial resources).
